And do we found amazing weather at Milano Maritime. We parked our van at the edge of the beach and just enjoyed the sound of the waves…
Well, just kidding… If you know our kids, you know that silence is 1000 times more precious than gold… And so it is impossible to get before they are asleep. Anyway, with 18C in the night and sunshine instead of the rain on the next day, we could not ask for more 😀
Since we left Poland, mostly in the evenings, we heard noises coming from under the floor or from behind the cupboards. Yes, that was a mouse… Although we have never seen it “onboard” we found its traces in several places, including cupboards (with no food inside). With six traps of two kinds: a glue one and a more humanitarian that will not hurt its visitor, we used several lures: biscuits, bread, chocolates, sausage and würstel. Only the latter one was interesting for our passenger, but unfortunately not interesting enough to get it inside the trap… Too bad… Hearing how it demages the interior of our home and imaging all the half eaten cables hidden in places so difficult to reach, was too much for us and so we decided to try the last resort… to poison it… Our passenger found the poison very attractive and a huge part was missing just an hour after we placed it. So now we are waiting…
In the meantime we enjoy the last summer days at the seaside in Pinarella di Cervia and camping Adriatico.
As today rain and colder weather were expected in our previous location, we moved South again, to Cervia. Let’s see if the weather predictions are correct and if gained few days of summer more?
At this time of the year the town is almost empty. As well as is the camping (Adriatico) or the beach 🙂
As we needed some relaxed time, we decided to use the last (?) summer days for relaxing at the beach and in a swimming pool. Villaggio San Francesco in Duna Verde is a place to recommend! The campsite was 30% (or less?) full, the swimming pools were a great attraction for our kids and a warmer alternative to the sea.
And within a 10min walk along the beach there are several restaurants and bars that will not leave you hungry!
Considering the cold evenings and nights in Poland we decided to take advantage of the sun and warmth still available in the Southern Europe. The closest (and the easiest) was to drive to Italy.
A little bit more than 1000km and we reached the Adriatic Sea in Grado.
It felt really good to have italian pizza for a dinner. We really missed the Mediterranean food…
30°C in the evening made it pretty difficult to fall asleep but the next days should be a little bit colder (26°C) and we will be looking for some shade for the van.
Museum of the first Piast at Lednica is well worth seeing. We spend beautiful half a day there. We would have liked a bit more information on the history of some of the places and objects in the nuseum and I installed their virtual reality mobile app that was supposed to help us. Unfortunately the app was not able to detect the GPS receiver in my phone and later it was crashing while starting… Well, when “computer says NO” the discussion is over 😉
In the afternoon we visited the nearby Museum in Dziekanowice. Unfortunately we only had 1.5h to the museum closing and so we were not able to see it all. One would need at least half a day to complete the tour. That is well recommended, especially if you speak Polish and can ask the guides in every building for some introduction to what you see.
That night we spent on a free parking between the two museums, right next to the beach. The views on the sunset above Lednica lake were truly beautiful.
As we needed to reach my hometown in few days for a celebration of the 85th birthday of my grandpa (120 lat Dziadku!) we started our journey South-East and found another lovely lave for an afternoon relax and a lovely day after, the small but clean and charming Stubnica Lake nearby IÅ„sk.
Centre of Slavs and Vikings in Wolin is a recreated Slavic Viking settlement, with medieval craft demonstrations in Wolin can be a very interesting 1h-2h stop and if you speak polish it can keep you busy even for longer. We could talk to an archer, a locksmith and taste (and buy) artisan food. It must me even more worth coming there during medieval markets and local events!
On the very hot day we were looking for a refreshment at the Baltic see in Międzywodzie.
But for the night we sought for a more quiet place, nearby Wrzosowo at Kamieński Lagoon.
After spending a night at a channel nearby the crooked forest in Gryfino, we went there for a short walk. Indeed it is very interesting to see so many trees bent in a similar manner. Unfortunately it is unclear how and why these distortions were made. They are manmade for sure and the rest is unknown.
After this short visit we moved forward North, to the Dąbie lake, looking for a nice peaceful beach with clear water to swim and cool down a bit (34°C on that day).
In Bystra and Lubczyna the beach was clean and pretty empty, but the water reminded of a green soup.
And so we moved more to the North, to Szczecin Lagoon, to find a very peaceful beach few kilometres after Stępnica, in Czarnocin.
The water was equally green in there, but the views and the emptiness made us stay there for the night 🙂
A lovely place to celebrate the 14th anniversary of us together, with a bottle of wine bought in the winyeard visited few days before from … plastic glasses made for kids by a well known Swidish company 🙂
Anyway, it was served in a perfect temperature 😀
